The Furniture, Art & Décor Expo Benefits the Furniture Bank
- Save the Date August 28-29, 2010

Houston, Texas - Plans are underway for a very special Art, Furniture & Décor Event benefiting The Furniture Bank, a non-profit organization that provides furniture and household goods for free to families. - "Making Empty Houses Homes".  Since 1992 The Furniture Bank has assisted in the creation of livable and comfortable home environments for more than 40,000 families and individuals.


This dynamic Expo will debut on August 28 & 29th, 2010 at the George R Brown Convention Center.  The Expo partners are, the George R. Brown Convention Center, The City of Houston and Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department.   Artists, Galleries, Home Décor Businesses, Furniture and Related Home Interior and Home Products/Services will create this unique, colorful and interactive Expo and Entertainment Event.  The Expo features Exhibits, Art Displays, New Product  and Green Features, Home Interior & Décor, Paintings, Sculptures, Home Product & Services, Indoor Living, Luxury Area (Spice of Life),   The Entertainment will feature Seminars, Silent auction, A Live Artist Chair Auction, Music, Little Black Dress Jewelry Fashion Event, Cooking Demonstrations and much more.


Artists, galleries, furniture, home decor business and related home products, services and corporations are invited to join in this fantastic extravaganza by becoming a sponsor or by becoming an exhibitor and creating an extraordinary display area for original art, furniture, decorative items and also donate pieces to the silent auction.


A featured part of the Expo is for Houston Artists, Interior Designers, Celebrities, Organizations, Partner Charity Agencies and corporations to donate their talents and redesign used chairs from the Furniture Bank (www.fb-Houston.org) by adding their own artistic embellishments, turning the pieces into unique Art Furniture.  These artistic chairs will be grouped in both live and silent auctions during the two-day Expo.  One-hundred percent of the auction proceeds will support the Furniture Bank and its partner agencies.


This unique Expo combing Entertainment, Art, and the Home will raise much needed funds for the Furniture Bank, enabling them to continue their mission of  "Making Empty Houses Homes".  


Each year, The Furniture Bank serves more than 1,000 requests for furniture and household items from formerly homeless families with children, women who have survived domestic violence, seniors, refugees, individuals who are HIV positive, veterans, persons with medical and mental disabilities, and others who are striving to re-establish their independence maintain steady employment and remain self-sufficient. And as a “charity behind charities” they service more than 70 other non-profit organizations in our community.
